My 2026 Bookish Resolutions
Hello, everyone! Since it's the beginning of the year, I thought that I would talk about my book-related goals for 2026. Usually, I don't create TBRs for the year, so all of my bookish New Year Resolutions will have to do mostly with the things I would like to explore more this year.
So, here are my bookish goals for 2026:
- Number of Books to Read in 2026 - I don't really care about numbers. For the past couple of years I've set my reading challenge between 20-30 books, which feels comfortable to me. I usually hit this goal by the middle of the year, and I've found that this practice has eliminated that pressure I was feeling when I was setting the challenge much higher.
- Number of Pages to Read in 2026 - just like the previous goal, I usually set this challenge to 10.000 pages. Again, it feels comfortable for my reading and it doesn't add any pressure on me.
- Keep Exploring Horror Subgenres - in 2025, I discovered my love for horror. So, I would like to read more in 2026. And not just that - I would also like to explore the many subgenres of horror. In particular, I'm intrigued by folk and cosmic horror (for example, I know that I like cosmic horror elements in sci-fi).
- Find a 5* Romance - I'm so disappointed that I've yet to find a 5* romance. I know that it's out there and I simply need to find it. On the Same Page was a close one, so I'm hoping that in 2026 I will find the romance that hits the right spot.
- Read More Literary Fiction - with my newfound love of horror, I noticed that the number of literary fiction books I'd read in 2025 decreased. And I would like to fix that. Maybe I could delve more into literary horror that combines the two.
- Finish 1 Series in 2026 - I know that I'm not a binge reader when it comes to books series. That's why this number is pretty low. If I had to guess, the series I would probably read in its entirety in 2026 would either be The Indian Lake Trilogy or Wayward Pines.
- Make Progress in the Reading Around the World Challenge - I find this challenge so fun. Since committing to it, I've read books from 13 countries (which according to Storygraph is around 7%). But I already have some books that would count for more countries, and I'm looking forward to reading them.
- Participate in More Readathons and Challenges - The truth is that I was never very active in readathons and challenges, but I've found that I enjoy them a lot in 2025. Right now, I am participating in Winterween and I've also decided to partipage in the Buzzword Cover and Reading Challenge. However, I don't want to overdo it and put unnecessary load on me.
There you have it! These are my bookish resolutions for 2026. I'm really excited for this year, and all of the amazing reads that it will bring.
