Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: October 2025

 reading wrap up october 2025

Hello, everyone! I can't believe that Halloween has come and gone, and with that spooky season is over. October had been a pretty hectic month for me, when I had a lot of work and little time for reading. However, I did manage to finish 6 books, and in retrospect, it was mostly a good reading month.

Here is what I read this month:

Books I've Completed in October

  • Lucky Day - Chuck Tingle: The first book I picked up came from my horror TBR. I was so excited to read this book, as I found the concept of probability really intriguing (and you all know my love for science by now). However, as much as I wanted to love this book, it just couldn't keep me interested. In fact, I was contemplating on DNFing it pretty early on while I was reading the ebook. I think that I only finished it because I switched to the audiobook, and the narrator did a pretty good job.
  • To Be Devoured - Sarah Tantlinger: Then, I picked a horror novella that I've had on my TBR for some time. This book was disgusting, considering that our protagonist becomes obsessed with vultures and want to become one herself. However, I didn't really like the writing, and I found that most of the side characters didn't act logically, which threw me off.
  • Από τα Ψηλαλώνια στο φεγγάρι. Η περιπέτεια της κατάκτησης του διαστήματος. - Dionysis Simopoulos: My nonfiction pick of the month was this book by Greek astronomer Dionysis Simopoulos. This book was a mix of science history of how we got to the moon, and memoir, where the author recounted how he did at the time. I found that the parts of science and memoir were well-balanced, and both were interesting in their own ways. However, I wouldn't recommend it to someone that only wants to learn about going to the moon - you also have to be interested in Dionysis Simopoulos as well.
  • A Most Agreeable Murder - Julia Seales: With this book, I was promised a Jane Austen satire, and this is exactly what I got! It is a murder mystery, so it was also fun to try and guess who had commited the crime. At first, I thought that maybe the satire was too much, since you can definitely tell what elements come from which Jane Austen book, but by the end, I found it such a delightful read. I would recommend it in audiobook!
  • Issues With Authority - Nadia Bulkin: This book was the surprise of the month for me. I wasn't actually planning on getting an ARC since I didn't have much time for reading, but Issues with Authority was short and intriguing enough for me to pick it up. And what an amazing read it turned out to be. It's a collection of three horror short stories, and you can read my detailed thoughts in my review.
  • On the Same Page - Haley Cass: The last book I've finished this month (actually last night) was a sapphic romance that I've had my eyes on for a really long time. After reading so much horror lately, I wanted a change of pace, and this was a perfect pick. I giggled, felt emotionally invested, and rooted for them, and I'm starting to think that maybe I like friends-to-lovers.

Books I'm Currently Reading

  • So Long Marianne: A Love Story - Kari Hesthamar: I'm staring November with a nonfiction book. If you've been following my blog, then you've probably heard me talk about my love for Leonard Cohen. This book tells the story of Marianne Ihlen, not just her romance with Leonard Cohen.
