2025 Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

2025 Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

Hello, everyone! Since we've reached the end of the first quarter of 2025, I thought that I'd do this book tag. Even though I've seen this book tag going around, this is actually my first time participating. The tag was originally created by Roisin @ Roisin's Reading on BookTube.

How many books have you read so far?

I have read 31 books, so far. I keep my reading goal pretty low for my usual reading (at 40 books), because I don't want to feel any pressure. This way, I know that I'll hit my goal by the middle of the year, which feels fulfilling.

Have you found a book that you think might be a 2025 favourite?

The truth is that this year I haven't read that many books that I would consider favourites. So far, I've only rated 3 books with a 5* and 2 books with a 4.75*.

But the book that I will definitely be in my 2025 favourites list is Death's End by Liu Cixin. This is the 3rd installment in the Three Body Problem series, and I'm pretty sure that I will be thinking about it for a very long time.

Any least favourite book of the year?

2025 has been full of disappointed reads for me and I desparately need to change that. Until now, I've rated 5 books 1*, 1.5* and 1.75*. So, my least favourite read of the year should be one of those, and this is unfortunately Carson of Venus by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Most read genre?

According to StoryGraph, my most read book genre this year is Fantasy with 7 books. The following genres are Classics and Literary with 5 books each.

A book that surprised me?

I don't think that any of the books I've read so far surprised me, as I knew what I was getting into. The closest that a book got to surprising me was Earthlings by Sayaka Murata. This book gets crazy, and even though I've heard things about it, I was still surprised by how the story was progressing.

A book that has come out in 2025 that I haven’t yet read?

*don't say Emperor of Gladness, it's not even released yet*

Ok, ok, the 2025 releases that I've yet to read but really want to are Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito, Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix, and Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy.

One goal you made that you’re succeeding at?

That's definitely my book and page count goals. As I've already mentioned, I like to keep them low for my regular reading.

One goal that you need to focus on?

Reading-wise, I would like to read more nonfiction, horror, and sci-fi books. I'm working on it, but if you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments.

When it comes to this blog, I want to maintain this posting consistency. I've been away for quite some time, but I'd always feel the itch to just write my bookish thoughts.

How is your reading year going so far?
