Hello, everyone! Creating a literary playlist is always fun for me, even when it takes me some time to actually compile and post it. The truth is that I had this one sitting on my phone's notes for quite some time. And today, it was the right time to actually create it.
"Girl, Woman, Other" by Bernardine Evaristo is a phenomenal book, which I can't recommend it enough! Lucklily, there were plenty of songs and artists mentioned in the novel to create a book playlist. Just like the diverse cast of characters in the book, the songs in the book are diverse So, I hope that you enjoy it and discover some new songs!
As per usual, I have included all the songs and artists mentioned in the pages of the book. In this case, the author had mentioned many artists without a specific song, so in these cases I picked one of their most popular ones. Other cases that I took some freedom were mentions of:
- Oktavists singers - for this one, I found a dedicated playlist and picked a song,
- Raqs Sharqi - which is a traditional Egyptian dance. So, I found a song used for this dance,
- Motown - which is one of the most famous record labels. For this, I felt that it would be a shame not to include one song.
Have you read "Girl, Woman, Other"?
